I’m a homeschool parent learning right alongside my kids, discovering what works and what doesn’t in the midst of real homeschooling life. My approach is shaped by curiosity, flexibility, and the belief that learning at home should be meaningful, approachable, and enjoyable for every family. Everything I share is designed to support parents as they guide their children in way that fits their life, not someone else’s.

How did Hands That Play begin?

Hands That Play began as a way to bring creativity and play into my children’s everyday learning. After earning my degree in Early Childhood Education and choosing to stay home with my kids, I spent our days creating hands-on activities that made learning fun. When we began homeschooling more formally, I poured my creativity into activities that were both educational and playful. Seeing my children enjoy learning inspired me to share these resources so other families can bring the same joy and curiosity to their homes.

Where did the name come from?

When I was creating resources for my own children, I wanted a name that reflected both learning and my values. Hands That Play was inspired by the phrase “Hands That Pray” and represents the way children discover, explore, and grow when they’re fully engaged with what they’re doing.

Why did you choose to homeschool?

Homeschooling wasn’t something we planned. It became our reality when the pandemic shifted our routine. I quickly realized how much we valued the time it gave us as a family and the flexibility of our schedule. We’ve never looked back, and it’s now a central part of how we learn, grow, and spend our days together.

What can families find here?

My hope is that families will feel encouraged, supported, and inspired in their homeschool journey. This is a place to discover ways to connect as a a family, explore learning at your own pace, and find confidence in guiding your children. Whether you’re just starting out or have been homeschooling for years, the goal is to help parents feel empowered and children feel curious, capable, and excited to learn.

What’s something fun or personal to you?

I’m a planner at heart and love getting lost in a good book with a hot cup of coffee by my side. Recently, I’ve discovered a passion for pickleball, which has quickly become one of my favorite ways to move, laugh, and recharge. Above all, I try to live each day guided by faith, gratitude, and the values that shape our lives.
